Baby Wiley!
I met Wes and Brandi at their family farm earlier this summer for their maternity session. (Click HERE to see it!) I love being able to meet parents before their newborn session. Wes and Brandi are so down to earth; spending a few hours with them photographing baby Wiley was a breeze.
I have to confess one thing. I love peeking in that car seat carrier when a family arrives to my newborn studio in Grove City. I look at each baby to see how big or small they are, if they're sleeping or wide awake, and how much hair they have on their delicate heads. It's sort of like opening a Christmas present! I get to hold them for a few minutes and talk with Mom and Dad about all the little adventures they've experienced in the last one or two weeks.
After I stop baby fevering it up, I usually wrap up newborns to get them to feel cozy and secure. Wiley wasn't sure about being wrapped up at first, but we found out it was because he was hungry. After a quick snack, Wiley was ready to doze off for his first photo shoot ever with Mrs. Sarah. I'd say he nailed it.

Although I love my bed setup, I also really love traditional photos of parents on a clean, warm backdrop. My studio has all the neutral goodness you'll need!
Baby led posing means I tend to let babies rest naturally, and then I'll position them so they look curly yet comfortable.

I love when I can capture a smile on a newborn baby. My Grove City newborn studio was toasty and warm so Wiley could sleep comfortably.
This is seriously becoming one of my favorite timeless poses. Belly and a blankie.
One of my favorite newborn "poses" is when I lay baby on their tummy and they turn their face to one side. I'll then place a hand under their cheek and keep them warm with a soft blanket.
When I was talking with Brandi about any special requests she mentioned this crate. She said this apple crate is from her family's farm, and would mean a lot to have a few photos of Wiley sleeping cozily in their crate. He looks so tiny and cute in this rustic, large apple crate. I LOVE these crate photos!
Mom and dad's special crate request turned out so darling! I have plenty of props in my Grove City newborn studio but I always love being able to combine my props with a special family item.
