For weeks I've been mentioning some exciting news and a big change for my business. I finally decided to write a blog about it to share with all of you!
One thing I feel can be pretty difficult as a photographer is finding your style. What makes you unique? For years I always knew I liked softer, lighter colors when it comes to newborn and baby milestone sessions, but I never really got in my groove until my studio was remodeled earlier this year. Once my studio became an all-white studio it became clear that my heart was leading me toward a cleaner, brighter look for babies.
Does this mean you won't offer any colors to newborn clients?
I'll still incorporate neutral colors here and there (cream, tan & grey) and I'm keeping some soft colors (pink & blue) on hand in case I get a request, but I'll mainly focus on the all-white look. I gave up my brown wood planks and started using my white wood flooring for prop and baby photos, and have started really loving my white and cream fabrics.
How did I come to this decision?
Once I became pregnant I started searching for newborn photographers and found myself drawn to natural poses and light colors. It was then that I realized if I was searching for these things in a photographer, maybe other people are doing the very same thing. I'd often ask my husband about what poses and colors he liked and disliked. It was the same thing. He prefers natural poses and colors. Babies all curled up on a soft blanket or resting comfortably in a prop among light, airy colors.
What does this style look like?
Natural. Relaxed. Light. Organic. Timeless.
